Curious Little Explorers was born from the collective passion and experience of a dedicated group of educators who recognised a need for a unique and nurturing approach to early childhood education within the Selwyn District.
Sarah Perkins, an early childhood educator with years of experience in home-based settings, was driven by a desire to create a learning environment that felt like a “village of care,” where every child could thrive in a welcoming and supportive community. She was inspired by the principles of Te Whāriki and the powerful symbolism of the unfurling koru, recognising the importance of fostering a strong sense of belonging and nurturing the individual growth of each child.
When Sarah connected with a group of like-minded educators, all of whom shared her passion for creating a nurturing and engaging learning experience, a collective vision began to take shape. Together, they recognised the need for a service that embraced the beauty and wonder of nature, celebrated the diversity of the community, and offered families a flexible and personalised learning experience.
From these shared aspirations, Curious Little Explorers was born. We are a collective of educators who are committed to providing high-quality, home-based early childhood education that is rooted in warmth, empathy, and a deep respect for the unique potential of every child.
